Stem cell therapy for chronic liver disease

Recent clinical studies have been undertaken to investigate the efficacy of stem cell treatments for liver cirrhosis.

Results of these studies strongly suggest liver function-improving effects can be achieved using infusion of bone marrow stem cells.  From this, it is clear that new treatment methods using less-invasive bone marrow-derived cultured cells need to be developed.
